SINGAPORE: Are town councils maintaining playground equipment regularly? That is the question the parents of a four—year—old boy are asking after he was injured by a rusty metal bar on Sunday night.
The incident, which occurred near Block 157 at
Rivervale Crescent, left the boy with a three—centimetre cut on his head.
According to his parents, the playground is almost eight years old and in need of repair.
Checks with neighbours revealed that a similar incident
involving another young boy took place a few months ago.
The playground has temporarily been closed and the
Pasar Ris—Punggol Town Council said it is investigating the cause of the incident.

SINGAPORE: A woman was killed after being hit
by a train at Clementi MRT station early Tuesday morning.
SMRT said the incident at 6.15am caused westbound service
between Queenstown and Jurong East MRT stations to be affected.
To maintain service on the unaffected stretch of the
East—West line, westbound trains were turned around at
Queenstown MRT Station.
Train service between Jurong East and Joo Koon stations
were not affected by the incident.
SMRT also activated a bus bridging service from
Queenstown to Jurong East stations to ferry affected passengers.
The first bus arrived at Queenstown MRT Station at about 6.50am.
Train services resumed at 7.03am.
SMRT said about 6,250 passengers were affected during the incident.
Passengers who were unable to complete their journeys
due to the disruption can claim a full fare refund from the Passenger Service Centre in
any of the 53 SMRT stations within the next three working days.
SMRT is assisting the police in investigations.
